The fort is made out of wood so i'll send some men to set it on fire. Tell everybody to stay in a square to protect the siege weapons. Half the cavalry dismount. archers inside outer ring in case of counter-attack

Are the Yamato using Russia as a base to infiltrate into Mongolia? Also, what is their strength in the Korean peninsula?

Guerilla warfare. Then I'll grab a bit more for my kit if I'm going to have to fight a war.

1 Padding - 50
1 Leather Helmet - 50
10 Flaming Arrows - 5 each(50 total)
5 Special Magnetic Arrows - 20 each(100 total)
1 Throwing Axes - 40 each
30 Arrows - 1 each(30 total)
=320 total

Then I'll scoot off with the lot into the forest skirting wide initially. I'll chop down a small size tree as quick as possible to draw some attention in that area and then proceed further towards Titorum and try and flank the batallion towards the rear end. This should be where the siege equipment is located. Give me a number count of local forces around the siege equipment. Detailing troop type, armour and weapons. Also noting how wet they look if possible.

This forest is dense, is it possible to get a good line of site a fair distance despite this? I'm expecting it isn't but I want to make sure.

The view is terrible. The Romans have higher ground but they are more clearly seen.

They seem to have 3 or 4 catapults and only a handful of cavalry. In fact there aren't even more than 50 proper Roman soldiers. These are all light skirmish infantry and archers. Although they seem to call for reinforcements the forest is too thick.

You do however manage to draw attention away from the camp but you see a small group of archers and slingers with fire heading for the camp.

Darknight
The siege is protected but you see falling trees to the side of you and behind you. It may be a decoy but this proves Celtic soldiers are heading for Titorum. As you descend through the forest only the light infantry, archers and slingers can carry on. Although the fire is for the camp, some fool has dropped his torch setting a tree on fire. Luckily the trees are wet and the fire is put out...

Lorenzo
Those men say you will pay for this saying they have many powerful friends. They did give the senator post in the first place. You realise this when the army commander refuses to torture in prison...

Duan
Remember you took India over a little while ago? You crushed the other tribes?

Anyway the Yamato have pushed into Mongolia from there Russia base. They seem to have evacuated the Korean penisula. Scout ships report no hostility. As for Japan, their influence has stopped at Tokyo where the Han sympathisers attack back.

Centurion
You are to be transported in total scerecy tomorrow. You may have to lighten your stuff a bit to help the load but keep Roman armor to fool the Romans. Remember you started life in Korea, they won't know you Carthage ties.

In that case I'll launch a full scale conquest to grab Korea back. I will then form an alliance with the Mongol tribes to resist the Yamato.

The Fort at Japan will start mobilising troops to invade North Japan.

I'll withdraw the troops from India and ask the tribes if they would like to sign a peace treaty with Han. A friendly relationship would benefit everyone.

hmm, I don't like the look of that group of firebrands
I'll notch up a couple of lighted flaming arrows and fire the first high into the area of where I see the group. The second I'll fire high again and just a bit in front of where they are. I'm not going to give up this opportunity, but it'll signal their location to others and they'll soon have more trouble than they bargained for. It should slow them up a bit.

Realising that my location will probably draw attention as well I'll move completely to the rear of the detatchment. From here I'll volley another 4 flaming arrows into the area of the group, hoping something will hit the siege.

From there I'll shall continue moving around and flank from the other side. Climb up until I can get a good line of sight(you said there is clearance to see them) on one of the infantry and fire a poisoned arrow. If I hit him then it is likely others will move to his help and will be in the same line of sight, I'll then hit another infantry if there is one, if not then a slinger/archer, cavalry as last option.

Then expecting a detatchment to come looking for me I'll retreat. (I shall retreat after the first arrow if it is a miss.) My bow will now go away and I'll count what number is sent after me once they get close. I'll flank them in ready and I shall have my throwing axes swift to the grab and my axe hanging.

------------------------------------------------------------

What was the effect of my 2 flaming arrow volleys?
What size part of the detatchment has been sent after me each time I draw attention?

I would like to point out that both my flaming arrow volleys and my poison arrow shots, (if they draw attention) would reduce the number of people guarding the siege. There is also disruption as people work to quell any fires that my flaming arrows succeed in causing around/on the siege equipment.

If you wish to comment on my ability to fire the flaming arrows, realise I'm am firing them into the air to come falling back down.

Everyone dismount and head for the fort. If the celtic army are moving out they cant have left many troops in the fort so i'll take it over. Half the men go ahead to take the fort while the other half stay with the siege weapons while they head to the fort. I'm going scouting through the woods to see what I can find out, enemy numbers, weaponry, etc. I'll take out anyone I can see who's on their own. Also I would like an iron helmet and an iron sword.

Those flaming arrows do nothing when the rain starts again. The flames completely out and the siege is retreating for the rain is too heavy to keep them out. The group that go to the camp is facing heavy resistance while Draknight is going in search of the guerilla groups including grandpa's.

VOTING TIME
grandpa v Darknight

A: Victory for Rome (Darknight)
B: Victory for Celts (grandpa)
C: Celts hold on to camp but Rome defeats the guerillas.
D: Guerilla win, camp captured.
E: Other ideas?

Lorenzo
Everyone is happy that the local mob is arrested and thrown in chains. But then the army commander comes to talk with you in private...

Duan
The Indians are too busy having a civil to care less. The Silk Road is still dangerous and Chinese Persia is still separated. Anyway, you launch a full scale invasion of Korea sweeping through finding no trace of the Yamato. The Tokyo base stops attacking after 20 miles saying that Honshu island is not friendly with them and they decide that the Yamato can stay in Honshu. They don't want war.

And what is worse is that the Mongol tribes are now ALLIED with the Yamato to take down China!

SnakeEyes
This confrontation has damaged his horse. It is too weak to run. But too busy fighting you don't see you have just rode down the wrong street...

Seeing as it's starting to rain I'll forget my arrows strategy, and pack my bow and arrows under skin I have worn aloft my back for them.

In this rain the archers, slingers, heavily attired cavalry, and siege operators should be absolutely useless. Plus with numbers even further down as half of the detatchment has moved off, I shall move directly into battle, first launching my throwing axes at any light infantry left in the detatchment in oreder to cripple them, and then I'll take my axe up against the rest off them, chopping at ropes and bars of the siege as I pass if there is no one close enough to stop me taking advantage the the opportunity.

Vote:B-Victory for Celts
Reason:The fort cannot be burned down in the rain and the Romans are charging for the fort, making it easy for the roving guerilla operations to make full use of surprise on both the attacking party, and the desperately retreating siege detacthment which is far from ideally attired for the weather and forest combat.

Guerilla warfare is one thing, facing Romans in one v one combat is another. Although there is only light infantry, you're infantry is light too. The Romans have high cover and you are injured. Your team is rushed to camp as is everyone else. The big Celt attack will commence when your camp feel they are ready...

I'll send the authorities at Honshu some gold and a herd of cattle and ask for their friendship.

Meanwhile, I will send an army to engage the enemies in the north. But first of all, we need to make several preparations.

This army will be a bait. It should not be too large. When retreating, it must pass by a gorge, where I have laid an ambush. I'll dig several trenches on the path and cover them with soft sand and grass.

When the enemy follows in pursuit, the baiting army will retreat into the gorge. Upon reaching there, they will hide at the side and meet with the ambush troops. Together they will attack the enemy, who will by now have fallen into the trap holes.

Another army (this time a large one), will move from another route to capture a stronghold point up north. This will cut off some of the Mongol tribes from their allies in the north.

Darknight
The guerilla Celts have returned back to the fort surround by thick forest. The cavalry and siege cannot descend the fort and you are too far away.

I guess you better return back to Titorum for this was a scouting trip and supplies are low.

Mark
To your horror you find they are backed up by Romans! This whole tribute was set up. Luckily you manage to evade the Romans and can return to Babylon. Xerxes was not so lucky. The tribute was recaptured and with Duan cut off, you are in trouble.

What will you do on returning to Babylon?

grandpa
The other watch towers report the siege and cavalry are going home. The Romans are retreating! You are to meet with all the other important people to discuss whether to start the huge Celtic assault?

Lorenzo
The other guy will just find another bigger army to command.

Duan
The big trap seems to be a failure for only 400 men fell for the retreating army.

The other army is in a huge stalemate in the north for there is a 100 mile buffer between the Mongols and the Yamato. Of course, the only other way to attack would be through the Gobi desert.

So the troops ambushing will immediately start attacking the enemy. All archers are to open fire at infantry and unarmoured horses. The land forces will wipe out the remnants of the enemy.

Those 400 captured enemies will not be harmed. I will persuade them to join my army and give them 50 each.

The troops at a stalemate shall hold on. They will attack enemy fortresses with explosive pots to breach them. Where is the enemy's granary or storage area?

Ok, I'll keep those 14 and treat them like my own soldiers. The rest will be executed in public as an example of defiance.

The centurion says this fee is because the travelling costs for the army is not covered by the state. But you manage to sneak onto the carts without paying...

Anyway you are rearguard for the front line of forts which will hold out if a Celtic assault is started. You will protect supply lines, scout etc.

Oh, and you can ask for a pay rise if you so wish...

Duan
The fighting stops. The general walks out saying he likes another leader willing to put his men on the line himself. He challenges you to a duel to decide the of this battle. However, you must not have any interference...

Lorenzo
A Pompeiian mob does not bother the Sneate much. He has bribed many to ignore this fact.

Shadowblade
The scouts have not reported any back way.

Ok, I will wear all of my armour, bring my diamond titanium edged sword and shield to challenge him. I'll also bring my crossbow along. I'll meet him just outside the city on my warhorse.

*edit* That means I'm bring everything along in my inventory except explosive pots.

Meanwhile, I'll send another letter expressing my wish for him to surrender and join me. And, is he known as a hero who has the qualities of bravery, boldness, heroism and gallantry? Or is he a ruthless scum?

To the Yamato he is their champion, to the Han he is a scumbag tyrant.

Anyway he dismounts of his horse and the fight starts with him. He instantly starts by firing his bolt at your horse killing it. Your first move?

Darknight
The commander asks why you deserve such a rise.

Lorenzo
5 senators who are very favourable to the guy want at least 300 each to sway their favour for a new head of the Pompeiian garrison.

He pulls out a throwing axe and throws it in your direction.

For my amazing good looks and incredible dress sense.
No just kidding, for finding the Celts fort and taking out a good few of its defenders which would make it much easier for us to take the fort if we so wished which would have the effect of halting the Celt attack for a little while(I think).

I'll block it with my shield, grab it and throw it back at his horse's legs with all my might. Then I'll draw out my auto-crossbow and fire straight at his heart.
