They are a good civ, but i wouldn't say they were one of the best. Personally, I like civs with good priests and the wheel tech.
However, Macedonia holds true to its Ensemble Studios discription of being a combat civ. During Bronze, I think a cav and ST combo works best. Use the cav to take out the opponents army and peons, the cheap ST can quickly turn thier town into a flaming wreckage. Even if you dont finish them off, you should have delayed them enough to iron first and go back and clean up.
In Iron, I think the Centrons are thier best weapon. They get all the regular upgrades plus they get +2 peircing armor and +2 line of sight. These guys can take out archer ele really fast w/o much damage and non-ballista towers too. Also HA are good to use to take out priests and peons. The ballistas work great in large masses, i still wouldn't send them w/o other accomping units though. The STs lose some of thier effectiveness in Iron. They don't have enineering nor are they upgradable. So, other civs' Cats can easly crush them ( other civs either have at least ST w/ engeneering or regular cats ). On top of all this, rember that all units are x4 resistant to converstion. This helps when using war ele/AE.
Overall, I recomend using a Centron, Hcav, and ballistas( or HHA)mix in Iron. Also, one other important thing to do is to get all market upgrades(sence they don't have the wheel) to keep the troops comming.
