Hey y'all! I've been doing scenario design off and on for a few years. Haven't really publicised anything except the one campaign and the couple of scenarios i made for the definitive edition. I'm aware that the game, the old and the new, likely doesn't have a very large player base - but that there are a few who still play and design. Coming back to the game(s) after a couple of months of not playing, I'd love to know where people are at with AOE and if people still are playing DE. I'm considering making quite the lengthy campaign, but it's important to me to have an audience for whatever I throw out there. In your opinion, would it be wiser to design this for the original game or the definitive edition?
For multiplayer I think the original is a bit more popular and played on clients like GameRanger and Voobly and the likes. Not too sure how popular it is to play campaigns these days though.

There is a small but dedicated amount of people who visit and play custom campaigns here (and on the official site). On designing, I would end up thinking it is barely worth it because of the small amount of peeps that play - instead you should design scenario's for your own pleasure in the first place. Take your time. No pressure. That is just my personal opinion though. I still play DE a bit but I haven't designed anything with the editor since the beta mainly because of limitations which are not present in the original. However DE's editor is still very nice, and you can create wonderful stuff with it. Whatever you prefer, just have fun.
Oh for sure, I only design because I enjoy it in the first place - I know that the audience is meagre regardless of whatever editor I choose. I'm currently hard at work with a new campaign for DE. I had my previous one taken down from the official forums for whatever reason, but it seemed popular on there so might look into getting it back up.
Mainly a lot of noobs and low level players on De, a few experts play, im one of them but even I play rarely. I stick to ror or more common now AoE on voobly.
