Sometimes when you tell people you still play Age of Empires, they are surprised. Why do you still play an older computer game?
Yesterday, I was in a store buying a weed eater and computer games came up while I was at the cash register. I mentioned to The cashier, who was probably in his late 20's (I am bad with ages), that I like RTS games. He responded, "I love Age of Empires too." I said, "how did you know it was that game?" We did not have much time to talk because there was someone behind me, but he mentioned that he was using the HD patch (thanks aoe-scout!).
So that got me thinking. People still play games that are much older than Age of Empires, like checkers, chess, poker, Risk, etc. Why can't a computer game be a classic just like those games, where the age of the game doesn't mean much? I suppose it can be.
