so has anyone ever had the Computer ally you in game? well today while playing it had happened to me.
of course this was when i was designing my campaign that is coming along great, i was minoan an the com was hittite, they were neutral in diplomacy originally an i had taken a few war gelleys up to the enemy red, an encountered hittite there an he fired once at me an it told me he changed his diplomacy to ally to me i did the same an upon discovering writing sure enough we were allies.
has this happened to anyone else before?

Going from memory here...
When you start a single player game of AoE/RoR and don't lock the Computer players to a team, watch the messages at the start of the game. Most of them will set their stance as your enemy. However, usually one will not. If you give some tribute to that one, it should become your ally. That was a deliberate feature, but I think it was not documented. Because no one noticed it, the system was changed for AoK, where a CP will tell you right at the start that if you can get it to ally with you (but it might be bluffing just to extract tribute from you).

Can't tell you how many times I've lost an alliance with a computer because one of his units got into my catapult's blast radius. I always wished for an option to turn off friendly fire for that reason or AI that could discern between intentional/unintentional attacks.

yea i understand that... but i doubt there is any way around that, it could be hard to tell intentional from unintentional at least for the computer. but who knows maybe a mod can be done to that but like i said i doubt it, that is probably coded into the game an unchangeable.

As far as discernment is concerned just have the AI run a check every time it gets damaged to see if the player unit that did that area of effect damage was targeting it at the time or if it was targeting one of the players enemies.

would that even be possible to write that cyrix? considering this part of the game i am sure is written deep enough in the actual code of the game it cant be changed. unless it is possible to write a mod for it maybe.
i cant code yet, what code does aoe ror use?
an can it be modded to do that possibly?
an true it isnt common for them to go to ally at all at any point.
im hoping i can get this to workout more, maybe this has to go along with it's learning capabilities? who knows, something to be looked into i think, maybe a few mods can be made for these aspect once we understand it more.

No, I wouldn't know how to do that. Don't think it's possible either. I'm just thinking out loud. :P

i figured if it was wrong a moderator would have stopped me from doing it right?
