I have recently found my old AOE gold and decided to install it. After beating the greek campaing i looked around the net for Yamato walkthroughs i stumbled upon this site. I was actually amazed how many people still play this game )it's awesome) I mean it is 15 years old and all so....
Also how do i beat the first mission of Yamato in hardest!!

AOE will still live another 10 years hopefully thanks to Gameranger and Voobly. There are still players playing this game in Asia like Korea, China and Vietnamese mostly. I see more players increasing at Gameranger. Most of them are new players but hopefully they can learn to be one of the best or at least; they will love this game like I love and most people like it.

10 years is way too soon. After all, people still play other classic videogames, even older than AoE like pong, the original DonkeyKong and others. I don't think AoE will die even after 10 years. Very likely not as many people will play it, but I am sure some will do.

Unless that remake comes! If it has the same feel as the original well...

The problem for Microsoft AOE online is the remake. However, there never will be a game the same as aoe or ror the expansion. They don't feel like remaking the game at least they should make an update patch like for example improve networking lags or balance civilizations; and they can release a newer version to be able to play it at Windows Vista, 7 and 8. For me they will sell and make money again from this game and maybe they shall rely on GR as if it's zone and create an anti-trainer or even something like it used to be on zone partnering with GR. Demo recorder to be able to record replays from matches.
New maps, bigger maps or even a 6 v 6, etc... But, looks like Blizzard has more head than MS; they still update and fix patch for SC BW.

Interesting, that one is completely new to me. It is nice to know that the community is still more than just rornews and us.

I still pay this game (and the Rise of Rome expansion).
Always enjoying it.
I also still play AOE-II (Age of Kings) & its Conquerors expansion.
Great games, great fun!...
And I had great kicks from playing these games online too!... From the beginning, games arranged via a chat program, even before the defunct MS Zone existed - the Zone was lots of fun, too bad they took these fabulous games out.
