So, if an AoE I civ was able to play an AoE II civ in a random map or deathmatch, who do you think would win, given same player skill? - Also, consider if we allow the AoE I "buildings only take 1/5 damage" or whatever it uses for buildings...
I'm thinking AoE I moving units would kill AoK moving units more easily, but buildings would be a nightmare for AoE I units to kill, full damage or not.
ALso, it seems that AoE I units are slightly cheaper, but the resourcces on a map are less.

Everyone has weaknesses, sure, but still they are better than the other civs. Also they have decent cavalry and Huskarls to counter archers.

Kraken would instant-win any sea battle against aoe1/aoe2, not sure about aoe3 though.

Instant win? nah, only if his special attack is charged and because a kraken can only sink one ship at a time it would only win one on one. Considering ship accuracy, Kraken population and favor cost I Still think Age of Empires Navies would be victorious.

Instant win? Hell yes. Even without his special attack he would crush the weak age of empire navy no problem. 1 kraken could probably defeat several ships alone, 3-4 of them could destroy an entire navy.

Okay, 3-4 krakens can't even defeat an AoM navy which are usually rather small (I've never seen any navy of more than 20 ships)...how could krakens defeat dozens of ships (I've seen frequesntly navies of 50-60 warships), like AoE's navies?

Simple, aoe navy doesnt have heroic fleet. A kraken group could easily take out many aom ships before they die.

I'm guessing this Kraken must have some kind of special attack/attack bonus, since 15+5 damage isn't all that powerful and 450HP (effective vs crush) is just like killing two tiremes and a fishing boat. For the 5 pop we can have 2 tiremes, 3 juggernaughts or fireships, etc, plus fireships may have an extra advantage since fire isn't exactly what you would call crush, pierce or hack damage...

also fire ships attack too fast, and Heroic Fleet is a The Titans technology even in the original AoM Kraken are defeatable, and there is no Heroic fleet technology.

Yeah, special attacks that sinks boats instantly. The kraken have 900 hp, not 450, 1100 with a upgrade. I also believe it does bonus damage to ships as well. Sure you may try to kill krakens with ships without heroic fleet, good luck with that....its not worth the time and effort/cost.
