I usually frequent Stronghold heaven, but problems with development of my Age of Empires map prompted me to come over here. Therefore I decided that I might as well upload the map here. So, I present to you my new Rise of Rome scenario:
The Seas Shall Provide
Scenario minimap:
Objective: Acquire 12,500 gold. Conquest does not cause victory.
It's a race to 12,500 gold via trade, fishing, and naval power in an archipelago full of budding trade-states!
This map was inspired by of all things one of the Egyptian campaign levels. More specifically I believe it was "A Wonder of the World." I liked how the sea was full of trade ships belonging to different players and plying different routes, so I took that concept, turned it Greek-ish, and then ran with it a long ways. I also put in some wildcard players. How they affect the game can vary wildly = ). While this scenario is intended for multiplayer I have tried my best to create capable AIs for the map, and they seem to work; despite my best efforts my own AI beat me. There were just too many ships from 3 different players <_> . The only exception would be the wildcard players, who, given their positions, are not computer playable.
As I mentioned before I usually hang around Stronghold Heaven. I'm not so sure how things work over here, but it is customary for designers to showcase their maps in the map room prior to release. Hopefully that is acceptable here too.
I have yet to play this with humans...Anyone want to play? If so you'll have to let me know how to do that exactly. Or, just test it amongst yourselves and let me know how the game goes = ) .
Scenario has been submitted. Watch for it on the download page.
-DOOMBRINGER-
"DOOMBRINGER, make a parking space IMMEDIATELY!"
"DOOMBRINGER declares it to be SO!"
"DOOMBRINGER, I command you to lay siege to THE ISS!"
