Thanks Wedsaz. Minoan are one of my favourite civs too, and Assyrian - yes I like archers. I've done Roman and it's touch and go for me, their infantry rock tho, even at early ages. I'm trying civs I'm not good with deliberately.

Phil Phree:
When you hunt gazelles, you must first kill the lot of them so they can't run away and only then build a pit and start gathering food from them. I read that hint in the article on the Persians in the academy.
I always buil(d/t) 8 farms round my TC (but I'm not building so many farms anymore nowadays) so my villies don't have to walk. Keeping the farmers in such positions that they aren't in each other's way is the only problem at the start, after that it works fine. Don't build a granary right next to berries but leave some room between so you can row up your villies. I helps a great deal.

speed 1.5, wet maps (medit, conti, coastal) for minoan/phoenie; persian and shang times work just as well on dry maps.
I only hunt when I'm playing persian, their amazingly large hunting bonus makes it worthwhile. For other civs, hunting isn't much good unless there's a forest just nearby so you can use the same pit.
Phill Phree:
Shorefish is good if there's a bunch close together, a dock boom is always fun, and using a 2nd and 3rd berry patch can help your bronze times significantly.
