I use outlook express newsreader to access the microsoft newsgroups. Server name is msnews.microsoft.com - newsgroup names are microsoft.public.ageofempires and microsoft.public.games.ageofkings. There are web sites that will allow you access to newsgroups - deja.com is one - but I don't like the interface.

Idle villager button - you press it and the screen focuses on an idle vill. Put him to work and press it again and the next one comes up. Good way to keep them all busy with taking too much time away from the battle ground.

If you added a new news account then you should be able to check the properties. On the server tab make sure you have entered the server as msnews.microsoft.com and that the "This server requires me to log on" box is unchecked. On the Advanced tab make sure the port # is 119 and the secure connection box is unchecked. This is about it, not much else that can go wrong. On the general tab, what ever you have in the User Name field will be shown as your posting name. Once you have checked this stuff then right click on the news account and select newsgroups. A list of all microsoft newsgroups should appear. Search for the age ones and click subscribe. Good Luck

Sebsoft asked what would be done about Hittite and Matt came back with the answer that given the limited time and resourses they decided to concentrate on the boom civs advantage. They would liked to have fixed all the balance problems but it just wasn't going to happen. I agree Tenaciti, I'm just glad they are doing a patch. All I had hoped for was bug fixing and anti-cheat, any features or balancing is just icing on the cake.
