This is a list of the top 10 advantages Greek was going to have but they proved too powerful. This was leaked to me by a high ranking official at Microsoft.

10. 49 food villagers- After some serious thought it was decided the 24 food saved before bronze would make Greek too fast.

9. +1 piercing armor for clubmen- With this the Greek clubmen rush was simply dominating. To think we almost gave this bonus to the axemen as well!

8 Tribute only cost 24%.- Since Greek is the most common civ to tribute with before resigning this proved to be too beneficial to the Greeks partners

7. Acadamy +2 armor against wildlife- With this bonus the greek acadamy simply ripped apart the wild life.

6. 25% cheaper transports- This advantage prolonged games too much, The Greek player could afford even more transports for running their villagers away.

5. Double size catapult- WOW! 10 of these things filled up the entire screen!

4. +2 armor fish ships- This advance simply made fishing ships dominate, it took a full 10 seconds for a fire galley to kill one of these.

3. +1 attack bronze/iron age archers- We saw how powerful this bonus was for Hittite, we even were going to tone it down and not give it to the Greek bowmen but we decided it was just too powerful.

2. 30% faster walls and towers- As of this point walls and towers don't move, but if they did Greek's would move the fastest by far

1. Double hit point farms- This was way too powerful as a defensive unit. The farms simply blocked the paths while the academy units sat there behind them just waiting in case the farms should fall.

14. Greek villagers get +1 pierceing armor. -- Since greeks' No.1 death cause is arrow, they need protection.

15. Greek villagers get +1 attack vs. Chariot arhcers. -- You can now hope to bone 1 CA to death before you resign.

16. Logistics makes greek villagers count as 1/2 unit when loaded on a transport. -- Logistics is now a must buy for all greek players! More vils can escape!

17. Greek swordsmen are 4 times more difficult to convert. -- Can't give them this, we fear greek short swords will dominate.

18. Greek slingers get +2 attack vs. camels and cavs. -- You will need it! Suppose you are lucky enough to fend off a first round Shang CA attack with slingers.

19. Once in bronze, Greek villagers can use 120 food or 120 wood or 120 gold or 120 stone or any combination of 120 resource to build a storage pit. -- Now you still have a chance after you ecaped with 3 vils, 45 food, 52 wood, 18 gold and 15 stone.

#20: Greek villagers are 30% slower, but come out 30% faster. The original intent was not to waste the Shang's time, but they decided that this bonus would make greek way too powerful in Stone Age rushing. Also since everyone was tool by the time they got there the axers tore the villies apart anyway.

#21: (a RoR bonus) Greek villagers have 3 times the normal hit points when jihaded. This bonus was dropped when they realized with medicine all the Greeks had to do to survive was get to iron, plunk down enough money for the vil and priest, and go on a rampage through the Shang player's wall. Then they realized that Greek didn't get jihad.

#22: Greek armored elephant upgrade costs only half as much. Greece cannot build the elephants, but they spend less money on this than on any other useless upgrade they get.

And number zero and minus one:

0. The new temple tech.- Necromancy: Thinking that raising units from the dead to be able to rebuild in a new place was too good to be true, Microsoft left this one out.

-1. Another tech.- Animal Conversion- The team left this one out because lions are just too fast, so other civs can't find that last unit.

23. Archers costing 39 food and 20 wood. This idea was abandoned when Microsoft got scaried of the late iron archer rush.

24. Triple the helepoli hit points. This one was abandoned because greeks rarely can build a siege workshop, much less a helepoli.

25. +5% villager speed. It would make greeks too powerful, because the shang players would probably sleep before getting that last wheeled villager... giving the greek the precious 30 minutes to get to tool.

26. Giving metalurgy to the greeks. It couldn't be done because then greeks could make an efficient post-Iron short swordsmen rush.

27. Towers that can see all the map. The greeks would be able to make their scary scouts, archers and axemen to defend themselves when the enemy cataphracts get near his town.

That's all the ES executives told me for now...

here is a Greek bonus:

Double sized Transports with an actuall attack of 1 and double hit points. --- Way to powerfull as a defensive units. They player could hide this transport in the ocean and actually win because the other side would be so bored and annoyed.

Yes, Phil, I'm a chess player indeed. Not a very good one, though
I play in the zone once in a while, but I prefer FICS when playing chess.
By the way, are you really great?
