my ancient history teacher last year had problems. we spent a month going over the technological advances in the maya empire, but she never once brought up the sumerians. She said, and i quote "all the civilizations in that area (middle east) were all pretty much the same, they just fought a lot"
i'm sorry, but isn't which civilizations killed other civilizations just as important as who grew corn and fed an entire country?
I mean, the Hittites, the Elamites, the Akkads, and especially the Sumerians were all important civs we never once talked about. I think she may have mentioned the Persian empire once when discussing Alexander the Great, but i don't even remember hearing a word about the Assyrians, and they were the rome of 1500 bc!
That class made me mad, teachers not teaching important stuff and all. sorry to post this here, but reading it made me think of my history teacher and her poor teaching plan.
