Let me try this one more time. It all depends on what you use the units for. If you go toe to toe, then the Egyptians seem to have the edge. This should be your last choice, as its dumb. At best, you pretty much break even. Use a different unit.
CAs in the middle of your woodchoppers is a very clear-cut choice. The Hittites drop 1 villager in 5 shots. Egyptians take 7 shots to do the same. They both have a fire rate of 1 shot every 1.5 seconds. Assume 5 CA, and assume you can respond to the threat in 30 seconds. There will be 5*30/1.5 = 100 shots fired. Hittites will kill a villager with 5 shots, so kill 100/5 = 20 villagers. Egypt will have fired the same 100 times, but since it takes 7 shots to kill a villager, they only killed 100/7 = 14 villagers. Whose chariots are better in this case?
Take the Macedonian hoplite coming at you with his 3 PA. A Hittite CA will do 5-3 = 2 damage every shot. Since the hoplite has 120 HP, this takes 60 shots. An Egyptian will do 4-3 = 1 damage every shot. It will take him 120 shots to put the hoplite down. Whose chariots are better?
Do you see the reason why it comes out this way? Because in neither case was the CA actually attacked. The higher hit points made no difference. The increased attack did. These may be set-up examples, but if they do not apply, why do people bother to prepare against a CA attack? What would be the purpose? I contend that the villager attack is the major purpose of the CA, and in this capacity, the Hittites have a clear advantage.
And, yes, these results are more or less borne out in scenario builder. The Hittites come out a little worse, because each missed shot would have done 25% more damage, and they seem to have about the same miss rate.
The answer to the question of whose chariots are better depends on the use you intend to make of them.
Keep your stick on the ice.
