Let me mention an example:
Last Sunday evening I was hosting a game on the zone, there were 6 green players in the game, and I launched. Ok so I go through the multiplayer settings and setup the game. The rest of the players join the multiplayer setup screen. All of a sudden, my computer freezes for about 10-15 seconds. Sometimes my computer hesitates a few seconds when people are joining, just so they sync up. This is normal(I think). Well, this 10-15 second freeze was different. Then I see one guy type a message in the chat area: "the Host has a different version" His friend types, "the host has a DSL connection and a P2-450". Then they promptly leave. Well I have never seen these 2 before in my life.
It was obvious to me, that they were using some program is examine my computer. I am sure that is what caused the 10-15 second freeze.
What I want to know is why/how/who/where/what program they were using to know exactly what my connection was and cpu type was!
Can anyone help??
The 2 guys were: DJSmack and Macmanphy(something like that)
Any 3rd party net monitors you know of that do this?
