I have the UPATCH 1.1 version of ROR. Today I downloaded and ran RockNROR, and chose Select AOE/ROR file from Registry (CTRL+R), because the Installation instructions on the RockNROR website (https://aoemodder.wixsite.com/rocknror/installation) said "Press CTRL-R (or use the menu) to select target empires(x).exe file."
It said that some Obsolete Changes may conflict with compatibility and asked if I want to change them. It sounded like a good idea, so I clicked Yes. Then a message appeared saying:
I would hope that none of those RockNROR changes to ROR (UPATCH version) were harmful.
So I tried the same thing again, hoping to continue the Installation process and it said: "EXE File is invalid or corrupted. Force Opening? (Not recommended)"
I clicked Yes, and it said:
Down at the bottom of the ROCKNROR screen, it said UPATCH 1.1 HD was the file that it had selected. This was certainly not what I wanted to select. I take it that this is referring to my "EMPIRESX.exe" file.
This means that CTRL+R was the wrong thing to do and what I should have done was press CTRL+O to manually select the specific ROR EXE file that I was intending to modify. I had actually renamed the EXE file that Iwanted to modify, but I hadn't backed up my main ROR .EXE file, because I was expecting to get a choice as to which .EXE file I would be modifying. I believe that the Instructions on the website meant to say to use CTRL+O.
I notice that at the bottom of my Single Player menu it says "Unsupported Mod", and I don't remember if that was there before.
Did I accidentally damage my ROR EXE? I tried running it and it seemed to work fine, but then after playing around with the game menu, like switching between the Scenario Menu and the Random Map menu the ROR screen went black and clicking the screen made the game's normal sound for clicking between menus, but the screen remained black. It sounds like I should reinstall the ROR UPATCH version, doesn't it?
