Hi there guys,
I'm wondering how to lure the left hand side catapult to the yellow tower and chariots?
The solution I've theorized is that rather than having the swordsman lure the catapult by going to the right, it's better that he go to the left (after the catapult is past the chokepoint in the trees), then the catapult will move right and the tower will shoot it. But so far I haven't gotten it to work, because of the sheer range of the catapult (even with the scouts and micromanaging the units to avoid the rock).
Anyone know how to get past it?

I don't see any threads about the first level of this campaign, "Tragedy at Ziklag" so I will post here and hope that someone sees it and is able to help.
I am stuck at the very beginning of that level. The two villagers are in fixed positions in that narrow pass and unable to cut down the two trees that block the way for the military units to pass through. The scenario hints include something about building houses, which I have tried and tried and can't figure out what they mean. I have tried deleting one villager and am then able to build a house that erases one tree. I then delete that house and try to do the same trick to erase the other tree, but it won't work. Is this the idea? Am I missing something obvious? It looks like a fun level, so I don't just want to give up, but I think I need help to figure it out.

Great question. I tried that, but the villagers won't start chopping the trees no matter what I do. I kind of thought that might be intended by the designer of this campaign since he has stone mines and gold mines both close by so you can do that trick easily, but no matter what I do, they won't start chopping!

@The_Patriarck:
My villagers won't chop the trees, though, that's the problem.
How would I go about getting a patch to update my version? Are those available on this website? Sorry, I'm such a novice with all of this type of stuff.
I don't understand your "priest or the catapult" comment. Maybe that was directed toward the OP? If it was about the Ziklag mission, I have no knowledge of anything past the first two villagers because of being stuck as I've explained, so sorry, I'm not following.
@Fisk:
I tried the medusa cheat and nothing happened. The cheat seemed to register since it didn't appear as a "chat", so the game knew it was a valid cheat, but it must only apply to newly created villagers after that point or some other little nuance, because when I deleted the villagers, they just died. No catapults, sadly, haha. If they were stuck in the same position as the villagers I'm afraid they would have been too close to be in range anyhow, though, so probably a moot point. Thanks for thinking outside the box, though.

My version is 1.0a of the original game only. I don't have Rise of Rome. However, I desperately want that version so I can play scenarios and campaigns built for Rise of Rome. I tried downloading the free trial of Rise of Rome and installing it and it won't work for me. Not sure what I'm doing wrong but after I install it, it just doesn't appear in my start menu under Microsoft Games like my original AoE does. Any advice?
