A little while back in the Conquerors (you know, age2), I was experimenting with modding the game a bit and came up with the theory that if I added a number of food to be provided upon the death of any unit (such as a man-at-arms), that when they died villagers would be able to harvest them (awsome for some kind of cannibalistic civilization. Unfortunately it didn't work, likely because of my own modding incompetence more tha anything.
I was just wondering whether this could be done in AoE original? It would be cool to have a computer player portrayed as a cannibalistic civilization in a campaign kill a few of your men, then you counterattack a minute later and realise they're hacking your men to pieces for nourishment

Weird & splatter to say the least. But very original. I guess it can be done via hex editing, but sadly Scenario_t_c hasn't been around lately. He's the only one who comes to my mind, who is able to handle these things.
Damn, it would put a new vlaue upon keepign your troopers alive in campaign. Oh well, lets hope Scenario_TC returns eventually to see if he can come up with any solutions

It's been used in EE as well, there you just use a trigger to add resources o a dead body. It also stops them fading away when they get killed so it can be used to depict e.g. the bloody field after the battle.
Useful trick - could be cannibalism as the bodies are harvested for food, or looting for gold etc. Would be interesting to see if it could be done.
That's a great idea, but I don't think I could be done in AoE

Well there was an option too add food to corpses in the aok Genie modding device thingymawhatsit and I only tested that with combat units fighting combat units (maybe if a villager killed them it would produce food). And since they run on the same game engine IIRC then they might just have the same options. If one unit can produce food, theres a good chance another one can with enough skill and time.
I'm going to give this a try in AoK again and experiment a little, i'll get back with the results soonish.
