They can be used to add several new effects such as messages, adding/removing resources, or enabling/disabling researches for example. The update also comes with a plethora of new useful scenario editing features: Custom map sizes (evenrectangular ones, though they might be buggy!), the ability to paint every Hidden terrain and changing terrain on-the-fly, as well as editing a Unit's Stance. It is an absolute must have for any novice and experienced scenario designer.
