Age of Mythology is my second favourite ES game, much more so than AoEII.
At first I hated the fact that big units counted as 5 population slots, that one had to conquer settlements to build town centers but honestly that made the game much more strategic. Also there was a much more defined hierarchy of counter units infantry<
archers<cavalry<infantry tier and arrow ship<siege ship<hammer ship<arrow ship, which made the gameplay more refined IMO. And you can trade with yourself!
But something I couldn't and still can't stand is that the amount of towers you can build is limited and that ships take so many population slots that you can't have epic navies as I used to in AoE. So naval games were greatly restrictive.
It is funny how M$ plays the same strategy over again and just like in DS and other devices they release new versions of AoE II and AoM, but they didn't release AoE (i gues AoEO wanted to fill that void) and I bet they won't with AoEIII either.[This message has been edited by Suppiluliuma (edited 04-06-2014 @ 02:37 PM).]
