Examples:
CA armies should die because the ST will have to be hit first, allowing the hoplites to aproach the CA and slaughter them. Even if the CA turn their fire on holites, which are nearly impervious to bronze age archers, the ST can defeat them. If the CA use hit and run tactics, the hoplites should probably be pulled back so that the CA can hit them from a distance. If CA become too much of a problem, compies can be added to the army.
Hoplites kill all other bronze melee units. Cav, camels, or swordsmen should prove no problem. The ST are good against infantry, also.
Priests vs. Macedonia. This would be unusual, but the ST have a long enough range to kill them. Cav should do well, also.
Problems:
Hittites will be the toughest competition. The +1 CA damage will make a big difference against the slow moving hoplites, and the double strength siege is probably better than the 25% cost reduction. The Macedonian would probably do well to go heavy on cav for this battle.
Also, this army is slow moving. As any compy enthusiast will tell you, this is a problem. You will have to send in some cavalry first to slow down the enemy economy a little, or the enemy may be iron by the time you arrive. I wonder if the +2 LOS cav/scouts are good for hunting vills...
Carthaginian hoplites are the only bronze units that can fight Macedonian hoplites one-on-one and have a definitive victory. If you face Carthage while playing Macedonia, go heavy on ST (and ballista in iron).
Can anyone else think of a counter army for this?
