I remember I started a thread long time ago about nicknames. I think this was in the AoE/RoR section, but VVV could be a possibility too. Now I described quite a detailed medieval war in there between the Franks and the Belgians and I need the text again. This is what I remember of it:

date: Somewhere in January 1999 although Dec 1998 or Feb 1999 could be possible too.

thread name: something like "What's in a name" or "What's in a Zoner's name?"

originator: this is easy. It was either Breydel or KA_Breydel .

I already searched the AoE/RoR and VVV pages when I set them to "show topic from last year" but I didn't find it. (It isn't a whole year either ). Anyone who can help me please do and bring the topic back on top, I'm desparate! (Angels/Cherubs, any idea's?)

Is it maybe possible that Heaven has closed it?

Thanks

Ooh yeah, I need the description from the Breydel nick too.

I tool a quick look in the VVV's archives and in the RoR archive and the thread you are looking for is not there. Why am I so sure about this? Because this thread had over 100 post at the end and I have not seen a single 100+ post in all the archives. Moreoverm in the RoR archives, some archives seems to be screwed up and unreadable. Maybe this thread was too big and they gave it a special treatment... like deleting it... or maybe the HGS forum's archives cannot handle a big thread like that... or maybe AoEH decided it was too big and taking up too much space...

What I can tell you is, it does not seem to be there anymore... sorry

Hi Phil,

There were actually 2 threads about nicknames.

The first one called "Nicknames, you asked for it" and had over 100 posts. That's the one you remember I guess.

The second was posted by me. "What's in an agers name" as you remember and had about 30-40 replies I think. I'm very sure THIS is the one I'm looking for.

Thanks anyway.

Alas, I fear this thread also disappeared at the time that some bug was assigning new threads the same URL as an existing thread.

Start it up again. It was a good read.

I spend more than 2 hours translating a very nice explained combat "Battle of the Gulden Spurs" of about 1 page long. It had real life formations and all in it. AARGHHHH!!!!
