In RoR any more than 3 on 3 combat Centurions versus Armored Elephants the Elephants Win. In the Ancient World Infantry owned the World Not Elephants. Maybe they could make a patch that makes Infantry able to kill Armoured Elephants If they are both equal sized armies.

I always find the soothing wohoing from a priest the best way to deal with elles.

Its also a 2 ton animal with armor on it so it would most likely take a pretty studly (or stupid) infantryman to stop them anyway.

A word for the wise....don't hold RoR against the prism of reality too much....that would be a scary thought

Also, beside the priests mentioned by NoSoup4U, in case you don't have access to them, use ballista/heliopolis in combined arms. I found them to still be pretty effective against eles.

I have to agree with Barbarosa: Six or eight Balistas or Helepolii (sp?) usually mow down the Eles really well (IMO). Try it out. It's a pretty funny sight to see them fall after a few seconds. I would recommend using Helepolii though - their better fire rate is a definite +. Good Luck!

Actually in the ancient world Elephants were considered to be powerful weapons by everyone that had them. They were used extensively in the Mediterranean area until the north african forest elephant was actually driven into extinction by overuse in war. They continued to be used in India & parts further east until the 19th century.

Elephants could be beaten, but it took well-drilled infantry (in large numbers) and often special tactics to handle them. It's fashionable in some books to scorn elephants in combat, pointing out the important battles in which they failed. But these battles are remembered today precisely _because_ of their unusual nature. Ancient users of elephants included both Hannibal and Pyrrhus of Epirus (Pyrrhus smashed a Roman army with them), and these guys weren't dumb when it came to war.

Elephants were risky, though -- when things went wrong, they sometimes turned on their own side. Which is why they're easy to convert I guess.
