Anyone else find villagers can actually help turn the tide of a battle in the field or onslaught against a fortification? With Jihad they are surprisingly dangerous. I use them most often to destroy siege units that aren't well protected.

Yeah, it's very situational, but villagers with Jihad and Siegecraft can make surprisingly efficient offensive units, as long as you make sure not to run them into any groups of melee units.

Another completely separate point is the Sumerian villie rush, which can be almost impossible to counter on smaller maps.

That applies to RM games that start in stone or maybe tool Age I imagine. I really doubt Sumerian villie Rush would be effective in DM or in RM starting at bronze or iron ages.

ahhh the amazing vill rush! yeah, its a rarity to happen, but I find it best when in general your map just sucks. bad wood, bad food. no sense in tooling to rush due to it wouldn't be strong.

rushing in HILL is amazing if you vil rush with palmy to sumi and hit anyone but those two likewise, and avoid yamy and assy as they are to fast. find a random grk, cho, etc. you can devastate a opponent and with luck (a lot of it) you survive and slowly rebuild your entire eco. but it varies.

all depends on your map and player civs.

Ive honestly recently picked it up more, it is a tad more popular in voobly on aoe.

"In 1678 doctors diagnosed a mental affliction soldiers suffered from as 'nostalgia' - homesickness, a longing to return to the past. The cruel reality of war is that there is no return home. No return to innocence. What is lost, is lost forever. Like my father, war's wounds have bled me dry. No words of comfort; no words of forgiveness. No words at all."
