Now, why dont we spice things up a bit? What are the five civilizations on this game to have the-Worse-Archers?

On this analysis, I will be considering two things. The first is, what upgrades does the civilization lack, and how much does the lack of these upgrades hurt the civilization. And the secound is, just how much general reason this civilization has to use the archers it has. With that said, lets get started:

#1: Greeks.

They literally get no archers from the Bronze age onwards. Do I need to say more?

#2: Romans.

Well, I guess that getting only the Improved Bowman is a bit better then no archers at all from the Bronze Age onwards... If it goes on like that, this will be a really boring list.

#3: Persians.

Now, here is where things get more intersting! ... Slightly, anyway. Although the Persians technically have several great archers, in particular the Heavy Horse Archer, on pratice, their lack of several Market technologies not only makes it hard to mass their( Quite costly ) archers on the Iron Age, but it also makes their range shorter, which is a weakness for the Heavy Horse Archer, as it is arguably already better countered by other archers then it is by actual cavalry anyway( In virtue of its ability to kill cavalry units through sheer abusal of hit and run tactics ). They also lack Ballistis, what means their archers will be having headaches against both cavalry and other archers. Their speed bonus for the Elephant Archers nowhere near makes up for it, first of

#4 Choson.

These guys, however, suck the good old way. The lack of both Composite Bowman and Chariot Archer in the Bronze age, and the Heavy Horse Archer and Alchemy in the Iron age, means their archers will simply always be a step behind the ones of everyone else. Well... Except for, you know... The civilizations above.

#5: Shang.

Also known as: The other civilization that lacks Ballistics! I was actually hesitant whether I should put then here or not, because their archers are actually quite good through the Tool and Bronze age, but honestly, the lack of Ballistics is just-That-Much of a big a deal once the Iron Age hits...

Yes I agree with your first choice. Greeks have by far and hands down the worst archery range.
