Hey, I recently reinstalled AoE1 to play with a friend, however we found that even if we turned up the difficulty, the AI often got stuck in the second age and barely progressed. This made the game pretty trivial to play. I was just wondering if anyone knew ways around this?

Ayy I'm in New Zealand as well, small world! The mod seemed to work before I changed the resolution to 1920x1080, so I'm assuming it is something to do with the way that works.

Hey sorry for the delay, I've still got the error but I've gone through some steps that might help your troubleshooting. Firstly, specs on my PC:
OS: Windows 10 x64
GPU: AMD Radeon R9 380 series
(Dxdiag says all directx features are enabled)
I uninstalled AoE completely and reinstalled using an Age of Empires Gold edition disc. I then patched the game to 1.0c. I installed RockNROR successfully and then booted the game, which loaded into a small 800x600 window but the game played fine. I then exited out, downloaded the two DRS files for 1920x1080 resolution and installed them. I then got the error message below:
Could not initialize graphics system. Make sure that your video graphic card and driver are compatible with DirectDraw.
I wasn't sure how to revert the resolution so I just tried using the single DRS file in the RockandROR dictionary from the install zip file, but that still came up with the same error. Hopefully you can find a fix, I found the UPatch mod but the AI still seems to suck (I didn't use this at the same time as rockandROR though!).
