I used to be a huge fan of AoE (and still am), and played it often on my first computer, an old 90s Macintosh, and then on my second computer, a Mac OS 9.
Problem is, my newest (and third) computer, a Mac OS X 10.4.11, will not run the original AoE. AoK will run just fine, but I'd like to be able to play the first one as well.
Can anybody offer any solutions to this dilemma?
I'm not sure what other information might be relevant, so if there are any questions, feel free to ask.
Thanks!

All I know is my old computer was an OS 9.2... or something like that... a Mac, of course. The game ran absolutely wonderfully on that! Faster than it ever had before. But it won't even load on my new comp.
I read somewhere though that a person could install an older OS onto an external hard drive and run a game from there. I haven't tried this myself, and nor do I actually know how to do it. But I'm pretty sure I still have the installation software from my previous computer's OS.
The thing that worries me is that I've got a ton of stuff on my present computer that just wouldn't run on an older OS. So, if something goes wrong... well, I guess I can't run any of the programs I use frequently on here. So, I guess my question is this: how would I go about by installing the software so that it only goes onto an external hard drive and not the computer itself? Furthermore, how would I then load the game from the external device?
And yeah, I remember that the PC version of the game was much, much more popular -- it seemed like all or most of my friends used that version. I kinda had a feeling that that would make things a bit more complicated in this regard.
