Check here this link.

Apparently the AI learns your strategy, but I really don't believe it.

Can someone confirm this?

To some degree the AI does learn from earlier games, depending on what variables have been set in the personality file, exactly how well it does this I am not sure of, but it has a noticeable effect. "Records" from earlier games are stored in the Learn folder in your AoE folder.

Wow, I always wondered what that folder was for. But realistically I doubt the AI does much in the way of learning. I've been playing this game for years and it always has the same faults (eg. always stops making villagers after a while, will usually fall to priest army etc).

No, since the build order is stored in the AI files it is not modified, if anything the learn files might influence which AI file is selected. I believe what it mostly does is analyze how the player deploys his army and find a way to counter that formation, although it's not too god at that either.

alright, even if it is to some degree that is still quite impressive, i mean made in 1999 an able to learn how to counter a human player that is not to bad of a quality to have.
question is now how long does it take before it can fully do this?
an if this can be built on top of for the next few series so it is capable of writing it's own .ai .per files to play against human players that would be amazing.
