I've had the game for years asn only played it once since I got it, I loved AOE original so much that I neva played the expansion out of fear that it would change my view on the game. So I've started playing it and still prefer the original haha

I thought the original campaigns were more creative - some of the RoR ones are almost just like a random map with a story!

The campaigns aren't too bad, I agree that aoe original campaigns are better but I like reading the history part before and after each mission, the enemy always has overwhelming numbers and that I don't like, the should build up like you

I also recommend RoR because they are historically more accurate and have more detailed descriptions than original AoE's (which regrettably are extremely inaccurate in many points). Also they are better made, visually (at least Ctesiphon scenario in pax romana campaign is gorgeous).

To enjoy campaign gaming start with the aoe trial version and search on youtube assyrian strat you will see what I mean, the aoe trial is probably one of the hardest and most fun campaigns. Then play aoe campaigns, however ror campaigns look easier to win for me. In AOE you sometimes need to tool faster even with 10 villagers so you need to wall and stop rushes from the maniac computer which magically makes army.
