So I noticed my version of AoE is missing the History part for the first scenario of the Yamato Empire, The Assassins. It already shows the Historical Outcome, which should appear after you've completed the level. Can someone tell me what the real History part there says? Also curious, if anyone has an idea why it's faulty. Thank you!
I have the original AoE Collector's Edition.

I'll be honest with you Remmu. Regrettably Ensemble studios added the Oriental Asian civilizations (Ancient Choson, Shang and Tamato) in AoE one to attract the markets of eastern asia, but they didn't care much about them and that's reflected in the poor development of the Yamato Empire of the Rising Sun campaign as in scenarios and historical information. I'm speculating but I think that they even picked up Yamato instead of Shang to appeal more the Japanese market, which back in the 90's could generate more earnings than the Chinese one.
IMO it is a shame ES in general hasn't taken more advantage of eastern asian civilization (let's see in AoE they were added last, in AoM they used none, in AoE III there's the expansion but it was made by BigHuge Games, not by ES) because their history is very rich and they appeal a lot of people in both hemispheres (I am particularly fond of the über interesting history of China).

Yeah I noticed the poor development or rather the lack of enthusiasm in developing it. Ok, well atleast the fault is not in the version of the game I bought.
They had the Mongols in AoE II, but yeah that was a little different. I'm also interested in the eastern Asia cultures, but I guess it's understandable not everyone is.
Now that Online came out I thought I'd play through all of the AoE games again with using raptr.com and since I still haven't played AoE III. I'm usually more of an Empire Earth player, but I do like the AoE games a lot too, after all, that's where the Empire games came from.
Anyway, enough blabbering from my side, thank you very much for your response! Keep it cool.

The Yamato campaign was probably rushed before the deadline to compile some ideas they didn't want to scrap completely but couldn't implement elsewhere, like the Assassins or Oppressed scenarios.
In fact the whole campaign is devoid of historical information. They don't even tell you who are the "Yamatos".
