Hi, I am new here and I am wanting to try and do some modding (for AOE RoR), so I was just wondering if you are able to change the visual aspects of units and buildings, I already know how to change stats etc. I won't be going to do much more than do some recolouring or resizing of units - If that is even possible. So can anyone tell me how to go about doing this and what programs I may need etc.

You need this program to extract the .drs into editable .bmps. Then you can change all the graphics how you want and then put them back into the .drs.

You open the .drs with the program I linked to, then you export the axeman graphic (you have to find it yourself though, there are a few hundred graphics. Or you could download a graphic list that tell what graphic number belongs to which unit.). When you got it, export it to .bmps. You will need all the standing, walking, attacking, dying and decaying graphics and (if you have photoshop or any other program) change the skin color of the axeman. This will take alot of time though.

You need the graphic.drs. Thatīs where the graphics are located. there are two different graphic.drs, one in data and one in data2. There are lists available and you can download the file made by Rasteve that has all text of the data file.

If you are interested in editing unit graphics, why not take a look at these threads: http://aoe.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/aoecgi/display.cgi?action=ct&f=1,6075,,10 and http://aoe.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/aoecgi/display.cgi?action=ct&f=4,6066,,10

Thanks for all the help. Had another quick play with the DRS files and I am thinking about starting on something tomorrow.
