AOE (The Original version) is some 13 years old by now, and we have to face facts.
The AI can be a little...off
The graphics? Least said...
Glitches etc. are everywhere.
BUT
If you can forgive those things, and many more, it still provides a diversion. It's still fun - and it can be funny!
I just finished the fiendish 'The Two Brothers' campaign. My favorite parts?
1) Seeing the tame lions in the second scenario file into the city without any challenge. Surely some alert guard would have thought "Uh, why are there eight lions snooping around like they're on a mission?"
2) Also, in the same scenario, after liberarting Jason - Putting him in a position to be converted by enemy priests! I thought the guy was pathologically opposed to this civilization and there he is - an absolutevision in red!
3) Converting the 'Boss' in the final scenario (I say boss because I can't remember his name!) with a hoyohoyo priest. Actually, that wasn'tfunny, it was touching to think the evil mastermind could be made to see the error of his ways. What was funny was the aftermath epilogue. Jason being wounded (perhaps mortally) despite never having been anywhere near the fray!
It's a good game, and that was a good campaign.
But I still like it best when you mess around with what's going on! :P
