If you don't set teams explicitly, they all form one team against the human player, though they start with a neutral stance toward the human, but that's in the documentation somewhere, so technically it isn't cheating. At hardest difficulty they also start with more resources, but that again is what they get from the start, they don't use cheat codes to get it, it's built into the game mechanics. If anybody is cheating, it's the programmers.

I want to restrict the human player from entering cheat codes in AoE/RoR single player games.
Is it possible to disable the chat box or Enter key without removing the actual keys from the keyboard?

Good question. Leave it to the players to spoil the fun for themselves by cheating.

I have to design SP scenarios and campaigns for some kids who love cheating.
Okay! I am removing the Enter keys from my keyboard.

Unless you said elsehow in scenario intructions, i think about everyone knows that cheating is CHEATING! so they have not beaten the scenario if they do it that way. (if they reveal map and clear fog at start, then restart and play trough without codes, they have done it but with spoilers.)
Some of the cheat codes may be prevented by deleting a town center. Removing enter should work too as mentioned, but only for that keyboard.

Like "editing" the keyboard, editing the aoe.EXE or ror.EXE works only for that computer. and if someone REALLY wants to cheat he/she may reinstall the game. So it is not worth it.

if you are really that desperate. make it for the trial version and have it converted accordingly. of course trial version is usually always compatible with full.
speaking of which i wonder if someone can create a program like or add to the existing campaign editor to convert scenarios into aoe trial and ror trial?
