can anyone tell me how to simply as easy as possible convert the RoR trial campaign 'First Punic War' and 'Multiplayer Mediterranean' to work on the full version of RoR? and/or simply tell me where to download it if somebody has already convert them as such.

unlike the AoE trial campaigns and scenario 'Armies at War A Combat Showcase', 'Reign of the Hittites' and 'Multiplayer Rumble' which you can simply copy them to your campaign folder and scenario folder respectively and they work just like that the RoR trial files are different apparently and do not work like that. i get this message that the scenario does not work with this version when i try them in RoR full.

also if anyone can tell me where that campaign extractor is at to extract scenarios from campaigns i would appreciate that as well.

I can't help with the campaign problem (All I would know to do would be to redownload and reinstall, perhaps some files were corrupted), but the campaign manager can be found here.

I encountered this problem as well a long time ago. I think it doesn't work because the RoR trial campaign is a different version, which probably causes such errors.

IIRC you can fix this using campaign manager (not sure if it supports it), extract the scenarios, and open them in the scn editor. In the menu, use the "save as" option and save the scenario's, afterwards create a new custom campaign and include the new trial campaign scenario's which should now be compatible and working.

i know theres nothing wrong with my file being corrupted or whatever. it is the official clean install since microsoft games ror section was around.

IIRC i know it is very possible to get it working in full. i think i have seen someone do it long ago. i will try using the campaign manager to extract out the scenarios and resave as something else. i dont know about the multiplayer map though. maybe i have to add it to campaign and then extract...

but then again..i think i might of tried all that already with campaign manager and rerouting it around that way and it produced the same result. perhaps a hex editor or even plain notepad edit or something is necessary. i did remember reading about some people who had instructions on how to convert scenarios from ror trial to full version and vice versa. but i did not know how to do it nevertheless because im not exactly much of a computer geek knowing how to do all that if much of any mumbo jumbo.

I never get a message that that campaign can't be played in the full version of RoR. I can select the scenario that I want to play and click Play and then the game crashes. The only remedy that I know and that has always worked flawlessly is to download and install the patch for RoR. You can have both the original exe and the patched version in the same folder, just give them different names.

oh really? is that a fact? ill try that.

wait a min. i think the patch doesnt work because i got AoE Gold??

i couldnt find a patch for AoE Gold. also IIRC i think the regular AoE, RoR patches dont work.

That's weird. I only have the original CDs, not the Gold edition (happy). Maybe you'll have to extract them then and open and save them in the scenario editor. I never heard of this problem when I was more active, and I've been around here for a long time.

yes i tried using scenario editor back then and as far i can remember i think it just crashes. so much for that.

ive been around back then as well since the first aoe was prominent. i recently turned my attention back to it after oh so long.

I believe the gold edition came patched. The editor crashes sounds bad.

I'm pretty sure my original Gold is unpatched, I always needed to download the patch to play on the Zone...

I have Gold and patched fine. I don't get it.
