Yesterday i started a game in hardest difficulty. The rest of the options were like this: default resources, stone age and nomad mode. When the game started i built my town center as soon as possible next to some berry bushes. I had eleven villagers gathering the berries and one gathering wood. By the time i got 500 food the AI had already advanced in tool Age(in 6:30 minutes)! I hadn't even built the two stone age buildings! It is also known that in nomad mode the AI tends to waste at least one minute, wandering here and there, before it builds its town center. My question is do the AI starts with extra resources in hardest mode(or because of the default resources)? If so which option do i have to choose in order to start with the same amount of resources? Or is it the fact that I am just too slow? My nation was the greek if this has an effect also.

A scenario that can be described creative for its objectives is the one that by typing "die die die" you will be defeated.

Yes, the AI does receive extra resources on Hardest, There is nothing you can do to affect it except playing on Hard.

2000 of each exactly. And hard and hardest are identical otherwise.

"Mrcheeze your genius but not quite a Gumble-kind-of genius." - Gumble
"We're all friendly here except MrCheeze but he means well" - Ninetales (Not exact words)
"Gumble has no words for you, you’re boring now. -underrated- that’s a joke, Gumble is OVERSTATED." - Gumble
(Not even sure what he was saying there)

Oh, ok thanks. I was just hoping that there was a difficulty where there is a decent AI starting with the same amount of food, gold e.t.c

As the fellas have said, Hard and hardest behave AIs in the same way. So if you don't find Hard to be a decent AI, then nothing can be done.

BTW i have been wondering as well (excuse my ignorance), if you have AI allies, do they start with the same resources as enemy AIs? for some reason in all AoE games allied AIs seem to be way weaker than enemy AIs.

They should be identical. I doubt that AIs allied to you perform poorly compared to independent AIs, anyway. They just take turns to suck or have their villagers gathering gazelle on the other end of the map.

Nah, they build 2 houses reach the pop limit (12) and while a couple of villies explore. The rest do noting or collect wood, it is always in that way whan i play with the 1.0a RoR version.

In a DM, it's a different story. I find it's always helpful to have an ally in a DM, especially since(correct me if I'm wrong)AOE/ROR is the ONLY game with forums maintained by HeavanGames with AIs that attack your villagers.
