G'day,
I would like to play Age of Empires through LAN but I am having some difficulties. I've installed both games on the computers, and installed IPX on both computers to run the game through that.
As we used to do back in the day when I played at school I start the game up with the disc then take it out and start the other one up with the same disc, I create a LAN match and I can see it on the other computer but when I try to join it, nothing happens for about 30 seconds... as if it freezes, then it says "Unable to join".
Now I don't know why this is happening. The FULL GAME disc is from a SERIAL BOX, a special promotional offer some time ago and assuming that would affect it I went to my local games store today to purchase another and I was told it should work, and just install the updated patches from the Microsoft website. Well I did that, I think, and it still isn't working.
Does anyone know how I can get this game running through LAN I'd really like to play 2 PLAYER, alright please post back. Much appreciated and thank you in advance.
