Hello, I recently purchased a collectors edition of AOE/ROR & AOK/AOKTC cds, but the game freezes when I begin to play. The startup menu screen is fine, but when I create a game and have a villager build something it always freezes and the same happens for age of kings as well. I was wonder does anybody know why my game is freezing like this?

My Specs:

Pentium D Dual Core 4.8 GHz
ATI Radeon +9600
512 MB RAM
160 GB HD

To be honest, I have no idea what could cause this. Do you have everything installed needed to play games? DirectX?

While sausages are tasty, you might cut your finger with that pencil over there.

I've never heard of any motherboard that supports dual core Pentium Ds and AGP graphics cards all together. Please give us accurate system specs, and yes, your OS.

Also, 2x 2.4GHz != 4.8GHz

It shouldn't be anything video-related, because it all starts when a villager is tasked to build. Your best bet, I guess, is reinstalling DirectX?

I was wrong its a Pentium D 2.7 GHz Dual core running with Windows XP Home Edition.

I just upgraded to Directx 10 the latest just a few moments ago and it still freezes. I just cant believe its doing this despite i'm able to run Warcraft 3 quite well.

have you run the 1.0c patch?

The only stupid question is the one you don't ask!

Read this: http://www.amazon.com/Age-Empires-Collectors-Jewel-Case/dp/customer-reviews/B0 00J18SR2

The two lowest reviews are about problems you can get with AoE on a high-end computer. It may be that your computer is simply too fast.

edit: copy the url, pste it in the address box and delete the space that the bbs software adds.

That's a VERY good reason for keeping an older CPU around. My sister recently got a new laptop with Vista, I should try to install and play AoE/K to check if it runs without any problems.

Hmm... same thing happened to me when playing Age of Mythology on my old computer. I bought another Age of Mythology, and then that didn't work, so I bought a new computer... then it worked, worked darn good. Other than that I can't really help you... goodluck!
