salutations,

we would like to make a question regarding the making of the AVI files (the videos, such as the intro video) of ROR.
in the AOE and ROR directories (...\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires\...), there is a little folder called "Game", and, in this folder, there's another folder called "AVI", containing 3D animations for the start of campaigns or cenarios (such as the ES logo animation, that appears at the start of the game).
as example, there are animations called "BAB1.AVI", "INTROX.AVI"...
in the animations, there are soundtracks with some background AOE-style musics.
we would like to know how we can get the musics from those soundtracks (if we try to extract the sound, the music would come together with other sounds from the environment, such as crowd noise, sword noises, etc.).

salutations,
pc2_45.

All the sounds should be in the DAT files and should be able to be extracted independently.

The AVI files are just made to have a video running at the start of a campaign or scenario. They do not "contain 3D animations for the game", they are created independently. Most people skip them anyway, so they are not really worth the effort.

salutations,

thank you for the response. actually, we didn't explain our question well: we know these AVI's don't contain "3D animations for the game", and that they are created independently (with 3DS Max). this is why we would like to know where the AVI musics come from, it's because they are created especially for those videos (and, as far as know, there are no specific informations about this in the credits of the game).

salutations,
