I have encountered a very frustrating problem.

Some saved games cause the game to completely close down and take me back to the desktop when I try to load them. Symptoms begin showing in form of that it takes abnormally long time (during which the computer is working harder) to load the saved game, then the entire program exits (crashes?).

It doesn't make any difference if I move the file to a whole other computer and try to load it in the game on that one.

It seems that if you repeatedly pause and unpuase the game, and maybe load & restart saved games (being the one in question or other ones); and then saving the game (often) it displays a tendency to increase the chances of the saved game-file being disrupted.

One way of preventing this is to frequently save the game to many different files (in different names) instead of overwriting the existing file, however, you do not always remember to do this.

When you KNOW you DO have the game with all progress saved, and the file with it's properties when you look at it in the explorer seems alrigt (eg the size being about 750 kb), you just CAN'T accept that you could just as well delete the file. I'm sure you follow my reasoning, and I wouldn't be surprised if this is a known issue...

If someone can help me, please let me know by e-mail: djavlar_anamma@yahoo.se

//Thank You

To my positive knowledge, this is one of the most FAQs around.

Don't know whether the FAQ covers this, but I experienced the exactly same bug too. The strange thing was that the bug only showed with one of these patches installed (I think it was the one that enables the . key to find an idle villager) so I removed the patch again (sorry, I don't remember the version numbers) and the crash bug was gone for good. I know I'll probably be flamed for suggesting to remove a patch everyone except me uses...

uh, something isn't right here... anyway, my World War 3 Mod for AOKTC can be downloaded at www.box.net/shared/bvrxatdsoj but the remainder of my signature seems to be gone for good...
let's see whether I can make my campaigns visible here (they only work with my mod) http://www.box.net/shared/48xmrzdu94 http://www.box.net/shared/xl9rtl5k17well, it seems to work!

You're not the only one. I miss the idle villager key, but since missiles have been made available with the enhanced editor and added a lot of possibilities I removed it.

While sausages are tasty, you might cut your finger with that pencil over there.

Just curious - is there something like Genied for Rise of Rome or how did people make all these things available? I'm modding for The Conquerors for quite some time now but being able to mod Rise of Rome unit stats would also be interesting.

You'll have to ask Scenario_t_c how he made the enhanced editors...he edited the game engine .dll file, but I'm not sure how.

Cheers, dude! Downloading it now, it sounds great! *edit* somehow it gives this error message:

503 Service Temporarily Unavailable
The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.

okay, I'll probably have to wait... *edit again* Now it works. Let's see whether I manage to increase the fun factor of this game - played it only once the last 3 years... it was me versus my dad. I razed at least 30 of his ballista towers with villies (the market tech rocks!) and then used the villies to remove his helepolis army as well (with djihad tech researched). He was wondering how I could have achieved this.
