I just noticed something strange in the last scenario, in the lower left corner where we can see details about our units, instead of displaying Egyptians its displaying Egypt i.e. Egypt Granary, Egypt Villager.. i tried playing the first scenario ( hunting ) which was also set in the stone age and everything was normal there.

Is it me or Microsoft didn't pay its testers so well?

In the scenario editor/players section you can type a name, which will be displayed in the box. If you don't type a name, in the box will be displayed the players' civ - egyptian, greek etc. They have typed only Egypt.

Alright and here is my last list of questions after which i can peacefully enjoy the game:
1)Why theres a 'GAME' folder when theres nothing in it?
2)When we click on someone in AOE we hear some sounds, where are the files for those placed ( its not there in the sound folder )
3)AOE has MUSIC1-9 and ROR has xMusic1-10, am i missing something or thats how it goes?

1) There isn't. Maybe you mean the savegame folder, but I don't have a game folder. Never had it to my knowledge. I don't see how it matters, either. Software developers seem to love creating empty folders.
2) Some of the sounds are in the sounds.drs file in the data and data1 folders.
3) You got it. Note that when you have the original RoR CD the last audio track is never played in single player games. It's also the only audio track worth listening to. There's something very much wrong there.

No i am taking about the 'GAME' folder, savegames folder is there with saved games in it.

PS i have the gold version, and you're probably talking about the original AOE because if theres a GAME folder in one then there should be in all others?

I've never had such a folder either. perhaps the installation process changed slightly from the original to the gold version and it was a temporary folder used while installing or something.

Is this folder in the main one or a sub one? What's the path to it?

In the main directory, Microsoft Games\Age Of Empires\GAME

.. can anyone confirm does this comes with the gold installation?

I have the same GAME folder with my gold version. It is just an empty folder
Open your Ages of Empires folder and it right there between data2 and learn. I tried to find out it use in the beginning but found nothing.

Me. I have the gold version too, got this empty GAME directory as well. I reckon it's a leftover from the install, when exploring the cd manually there's a similar GAME directory which contains the whole installation part, IIRC. Never noticed that though.

I have gold and I don't have it. Maybe that's because I have a different gold edition than most others here.

I have like 3 or 4 emtpy folders myself, actually. Let me check which ones they are..

-GAME[empty]
-Learn [useless]
-Help [empty]
-Empires[empty]

All emtpy except learn, which contains a few 2kb .UH files and one learn.txt, which actually says one word. "learn.txt."
Useless imo.

Game= AOE and ROR icons
Learn= holds all UH files from campaigns scenarios and any editing
Help= sound wave and bitmap files
Empires= help files (for the game itself i.e.: troubleshooting, overview game play)

I don't know for sure folks - I'm known for endlessly whining over unimportant details in things that don't suit my fancy. There's enough to whine about in this game - historical inaccuracy is just one of them, balance another. But I never bothered to fuss over the content of empty folders in the installation of the game.

makes sense though, IICDO. But still, i've removed them in the past [empires and help], and the game didnt even notice. or so it seems. Meh, i dunno.
