Hi.
How can I change AOEI's default brightness/contrast/gamma settings as it just far to bright for me to play?

I don't think there's an ingame option. I've never seen one at least. However, you could try changing the gamma manually at the screen. You'll have to re-adjust it everytime you do something else, but it's better than nothing.

Out of interest, could you post a screenshot?

Thanks 4 trying. My monitor doesnt lety me go any darker and I have sensitve eyes

I was hoping there muight be some configuartion file I could modify or somehting. Still not to worry.

What kind of monitor do you have? Do you have similar problems with other programs?

Indeed, is it too bright with JUST AoE, or is it too bright with everything? If it's just AoE, then I can't imagine what might be the problem. Perhaps it's something with drivers or DirectX. Check you have competent versions of both.

Have you tried to adjust it from Control Panel > Display? I believe with that AND monitor's own options you should get any monitor nearly pitch black.
