Exactly what is the definition of smurfin. I have seen the root smurf used in several contexts in this forum. Could somebody please tell me. Ignorance is a terrible thing to bear.

Example: "I was playing under a smurf name."
or "I was smurfin last night"

Smurfing was a term coined by Shlonglor on his War2 page. It arose when he and his friends made up some nicks using the names of smurfs, and then played their unsuspecting acquaintences. After winning, they revealed their real identities.

The "rules for smurfing" were that smurfs never lose, and that smurfs must be known. In other words, simply making an alternate nick and pounding people isn't really smurfing. If you win a game under an assumed nick, and then reveal who you are, and the people *know* who you are, then that's smurfing.

Smurfs never lose, so if they don't win they don't reveal their true identity, right?

Probably an accurate definition of the expression as coined, I wouldn't know, but it is used more widely now to mean a name other than your principal name (the one under which you have the greatest reputation).

By the strict definition anything like Hari_Smurf, Brainysmurf etc is an oxymoron?
