They can be recorded, but it takes up so much space with any monitor recording software stuff its rediculous (i've tried), and the only way we could ever record games is to have a program that saved the movements of units in a coded form, which i assume happens with aok.

Even compressed, a few seconds of play is still fairly large, can't remember the exact numbers, but even monochrome super-low resulation takes up like 10mb/min or sumthing rediculous

Well, I'm pretty sure that the players paused to catch a bite or answer the call of mother nature. It's impossible to sit in front of the PC for 20 hours without getting health problems (some people just go blind).
