AoE is one of the very best RTS games out there and there's no reason to think it will die anytime soon.

The latest game shows a change in direction by offering a New World setting, yet still feels like good ol' Age of Empires. The game isn't perfect but there's still a lot of fun to be had. I'd go as far as saying exploring a new map in AoE is best done in AoE, better than in any other game.

With such a large fanbase I'm sure with Microsoft's backing the series will be around for another decade at least.

I was not talking about the series, I meant the game AoE1. And it wasn't me who created that that topic, I just gave you a chance to defend your game.

No. You obviously don't play on the net. There're still plenty of regulars playing every night on the Zone.

I know lots of people in RTWH are reading this, and those who aren't noobs like ace_general, who registered only a few months ago, should know that I played RTW and posted a lot there in the past. It is a great game and great games don't fade away. If you like RTW (I do), do you want it to die out 5 years down the road? Only idiots who don't know how to appreciate the beauty of a game they like do that.

Anyway, like CBH, old forums like AoEH have produced a community of good friends dedicated to the game. Reason why CH was closed was because there was zero activity in every forum, the Seraph ET has been hospitalised for a few months already, and the regulars either don't post there or had nothing to say.

A few months ago I saw a post by Jayhawk (in OD or somewhere), replying to a dumb thread like this one. He said that CBH is still intact because he likes the forum. Coming from there, I like it too. AoEH's the same. They're both nice, friendly, mature, and don't produce noobs and smurfs like RTWH.

I love RTW, but reason why I make only 1 or 2 posts per day now in RTWH is because I've seen lots of stupid people and stupid posts in RTW. I'll laugh my ass off when its closed in 5 years' time, while AoEH lasts into its 13th year.

Not to mention that in the last two years we have found more new things to do with the game than ever before.

We don't need a chance to defend our game, steace43. We want time to play it, among the other worthwhile things we want to do in our lives. Once again, return to where you came from. You have no business here.

LISTEN NOW! I AM NOT SAYING THAT IT IS TIME FOR AOE1 TO DIE! I JUST GAVE YOU THE POSSIBILITY TO DEFEND YOUR GAME!

Which we have. Not that we actually needed to defend it from know nothing, pig ignorant, room temperature IQ, spoilt little brats with the attention span of a stunned gnat, but we did. Maybe they should try justifying the utter crap they come out with in the first place, if that doesn't tax their lack of a mind too much.

Now stop shouting or you'll get a warning.

Quoted from steace43:

I was not talking about the series, I meant the game AoE1. And it wasn't me who created that that topic, I just gave you a chance to defend your game.

To put it simply: for the videogames market, AoE1 is already died. What you see here is a stalwart little community of truly attached and maybe nostalgical fans, many of which are designers too. We've been caught by the AoE's spell, and most of us will play this game until there will be a computer able to run it, no matter what astonishing game will be released in the meanwhile. I bought AoE early in 1998, and it has always been installed on every PC of mines. Sometimes I'm able to leave its CD in the drive for two months, and now I can say AoE is the game I've played most during my life, and I've started destroying my brain with videogames early in the 80s.

...Hell, perhaps we're all dead men here, besided this is an Heaven, isn't it?

We still get the occasional new person now, in both forums and downloads. People pick up the game in the bargain bins, think it will be a bit of fun as well as being educational, then go online looking for other people into it. Guess where they show up? On the number 1 site, and that's official.

Also, the older games like AoE are a good introduction to RTS games, which have now become so complex they alienate the casual player. Again we see the arrogance of the RTS nerd who thinks only he plays them, not because it's true but because he's ignorant.

How many games now will still have a strong following in 8 years' time? None of them. AoEH will be alive long after other sites for more modern games are dead because it has real fans, not just kids jumping on the bandwagon until the next game comes along.

Sorry for sreaming, it's just that I don't get why you are arguing with me. I am not the one who says that AoE1 should die, it's some other people at RTWH that does. For me, you can play whatever you want, even though I can't understand the fun in a game that is so outdated that it doesn't even have formations. But as said, play whatever you think is fun.

EDIT: My sig realy look awful with this background color! Much better on the RTWH.
