I have three computers in my network. My question is in the original AOE is there a way to setup one machine to be a server, not a player, to the other two computers? I have searched for this info and have yet to find anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I'm not too sure. What I can say is that you'd need at least two CDs to run Age of Empires on three computers.

While sausages are tasty, you might cut your finger with that pencil over there.

Yes, I have that. I was wanting to be able to setup a server only machine. Thanks for your reply.

I think I follow you, and I dont think its possible, at least as far as my pretty limited networking knowledge goes.

AFAIK, You can't set up a stand-alone AoE server, and only a player is able to create and host games, same works for the Zone.
