Simple. Just play Contenental. I bronzed at 12:42 with Macedonia just a few minutes ago even though I kept forgetting to build houses because I haven't gotten used to the gueing feature. I bought RoR yesterday so while this may be old news to many of you I am quite suprised. For some reason I thought bronze times were going to drop slightly with RoR, but there are so many shore fish in the contenental map that even with less effecient shore fishing, bronze times may drop.

Now I must confess that I've only played 3 games with one being Hill Country/Palmyra (I sucked in that game) and all have been against the AI. But I never bronzed in 12:42 with my beloved Hittites even on the best coastal map.

Any comments?

Hey Jehu, glad to hear you got RoR! Bronze in 12:42?!? Man, I'm lucky if I go Bronze in 16:00. I haven't played Continental yet; I'm working on my Inland Bronze times in single player. Just curious, if anyone cares to comment, how would you define an intermediate player? I thought I was one simply because I can beat rookies. But maybe I'm still a rookie and just don't know it.

Went to the Academy. I am definitely somewhere between rookie and low intermediate. Any suggestions on what level players I should play against in order to improve my game?

Hell country is the best

For some reason I can actually hold ground in a 2v1 against good players in Hell country (me being on the one man team...duh)

Only way I can see that this is possible is cause it is extremely easy to wall in and scout, and since there aint no water, my hittites really get to shine

I just played Rome on a Hill Country map and had a decent 15 minute bronze with a crappy food spot. I believe the experts when they say barracks units still suck BUT with logistics and slinger escort they have possibilities

I also just finished playing Shang on a continental map. I bronzed at 12:30 with 22 real villagers (no big accomplishemnt in itself) but I had 1200+ food when I made it to bronze---DANG! I slowed myself down because I had forgotten to build a second type of stone age building before attempting to tool. I had to build a granary so I could hit the tool upgrade button. I ironed at 20 minutes but could have ironed at 18 if I had been smarter with my wood.

These times on continental maps are almost obscene.

I recommend you play with and against intermediate or better players to improve your game. Playing against rookies can be fun, especially if you want to toy around with a crappy or new civ,but you wont learn much.

I think I learn as much or more from teaming up with better players than me. Once you get writing you can observe what they have done and maybe incorporate it into your game.
