Enter October 2002, having purchased a Pentium 3 computer 2 years ago, I suddenly remembered my old friend AoE. So I went out and immediately bought the sequel, which I had never played, Age of Kings. I now play this game nearly 4 or 5 days per week, and am loving it! So just for kicks I downloaded the Rise of Rome demo and played online. At first I was shocked at how crappy it is compared with AoK. No Farm queue's, poor graphics, poor villager and military AI, no formations, just everything about it seemed worse than I remembered.
Until I remembered what I love most about the game: Getting to Bronze Age before your opponent and OWNING them!! Game's never last more than 25 minutes because one person gets to Bronze before the other and kills then off! It may sound like a bad trait, but I love it!
After playing AoK for so long, where you can't finish someone off because they garrison their villagers and end up making pikemen for your Knights, I am loving the old AoE style of gameplay where speed matters!
Anyway, I just thought I'd drop in and say hey. Also, where can I go about acquiring AoE and RoR CD's? Anyone on here willing to sell them?
Peace
