Are the threads that date from before ROR still available? I was looking for my first post and if I remember correctly it was before ROR came out in a thread from Ingo about the Tai Gun.
Or were they still on the gamespot server?

I have searched and found posts dating back to early 88 so they are prolly there somewhere.
Peter: is it really??? Damn, I'm still convinced that I made my first post before ROR. Phil, I tried to look as far as possible back in the forums and the threads were all just after the release of ROR. At least they had armoured eles and slingers. And 88? I believe AoE HEaven is a little bit over 5 years old now, so I assume you mean 98?

No, he means 88. Eddies in the space-time continuum you see.

When Phil said Eddies in the space time continuum I thought he was quoting from the Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy. One of my favourite quotes as it happens. two of the heroes, Ford and Arthur, are stuck on Earth and need to get off, when suddenly a sofa appears from nowhere and they sit on it and get transported to another dimension. Just before they do, Arthur asks how the sofa got there and Ford says 'eddies in the space-time continuum', to which Arthur says 'Oh. And this is his sofa, is it?'
I was indeed quoting from The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
Has anyone read the Dirk Gently books by Douglas Adams?

I've read Dirk Gently and The Long Dark Teatime, yes. I think I prefer the second one, the concept of Thor needing a passport before he could take a plane back to Scandinavia is a classic.
