I played a 3 on 3 game a few weeks back where 2 of my team and one of their team dropped.
Around the five hour mark we stalemated. I was playing Sumerian; I had towers covering one hill with my catapults and also hiding behind a mass of (sadly, disconnected) Greek helepoli. There was no wood left on the map, no berries, no game, and only a little fish(I had guys sailing half-way round the world to get it).
My opponents(a Phoenician and a Macedonian) were sort of stuck. They couldn't mount any kind of attack against either my hill or my base (which was behind the hill and the tower/lazy helepolis area), since they had no seige units available. They had tons more food than I did, since I lost the battle for the last big forest to a billion armored elephants around the 3 hour mark.
So I was stuck, too. My armies consisted of about 10 heavy catapults - which I built with the stray trees of four different starting 'islands' on a narrows map after all the forests failed, 8 elephants, 2 or 3 priests, a few stray scythe chariots, and one badly damaged, very frightened, trireme.
Between them they had at least 30 armored elephants, 8 or 10 priests, several juggernauts, some stone throwers, quite a few horse archers, and some jihaded Phoenician villagers.
We agreed to live in peace thereafter, since there really wasn't anything left to quarrel over. It wasn't until later that I realized I could have won by converting the Greek helepoli...since it was a rated game, I guess I would have recieved an incomplete for it, but, still...
