Topic Subject:DM or RM.. which is your GAME of choice?

As for me, I love to play DM. I tried RM before but have never found interest in the game.
it seems 50% of the people participating in this forum play RM (maybe both), but I would like to know what makes RM their game.

True that DM requires fast mouse clicking (which is also true for RM to certain extent) but DM (in an all allowed setting) offers much more than that. To win a regular DM game, you need to master (and counter) all the iron units, civilization, and learn to manage your resources.
Based on my "very" limited RM experience, the RM objective nearly always have been

1. choose Assyrian
2. get to bronze fast (under 15 min or something)
3. chariot rush (sometimes a tool rush)
4. the end

I'm sure there are a lot more than this,, so tell me guys, which game do u like better, if the answer is RM, tell me why. That may be enough to convince me to play RM more.

I'm expert in RM and DM. If you're expert in RM, you already mastered all iron units and u know every single counter to every single unit. Most DMers who tries to play RM sucks! Real RM experts who plays DM are just as good or better than the regular DM players.

RMers can manage resources better than DM players. In expert RM games, tool rush is not a "sometimes" its ALWAYS and its Random civs.

And Palmy is one of the strongest civ in RoR =)

In DM (I think), military is important early and econ is important later.
I RM, by contrast, econ is important early and military is important later.
However, RM has 3 ages for military action whereas DM only has one. This makes timing of attacks more important.
AoE RM... Choose shang, yammy, assy, minoan, hittite or egypt. Get to bronze fast (usually between 12 and 16 mins, faster strats are map-dependant). Make cavs (or spear chariots for egypt), CAs, compies, STs. The end (after 20 mins).
AoE DM... Choose choson or persian. Rush with legions or AEs. The end (after 2 mins).
In RM you usually get a chance to build up before the war happens, whereas in DM people seem to use scripts, hotkeys and such things a lot, which in other games would be frowned on as being nearly cheating, or be outright banned as such.

Rm all the way baby!I hate to sound blunt but i reckon dm was designed for teenagers who have no patience whereas rm is designed for the thinking player who likes to outwit his opponent rather than outclick them.Just my opinion lol

Lets see here .. Rm or Dm ..

Now Rush3d I know who you are .. And your a friend and all .. BUT YOUR WRONG ! =D .. I started out Dm , I've now played about 6 years of Dm including AoE beta , 5 or 4 of Rm .. I Find that my Dm experican enhanced my Rm into me being able to attack more agressivly. Rm enhanced my econ skills in Dm. They both go hand in hand and improve each other.

As for Rm .. Rm consist of you get a civ , you gather res , if you get a shitty bronze civ you tool rush , you get a good bronze civ you boom and kill. There is Rm in a nut shell.

Dm you start out with lots of res , you make 80-140 villagers depending on your civ. You make econ fast and army fast you rush , if rush fails you gather regroup and attack in non stop spurts untill opponent is dead. There is Dm in a nut shell.

Which takes more skills? Well first to the rook that said HOTKEYS are cheating. That's quite stupid .. I use hot keyz in Rm and Dm .. they are not cheating they just give you the ability to build faster. Ok now back to which takes more skill .. Niether , Rm takes certian skills , Dm takes certian skills. Neither is harder than the other.

They are both fun I advise you to play both and become a true xpert.

I am very good at RM, although I have started playing, so far I have been able to win most of my matches.

By hotkeys, I didn't mean things like 't' to train a hoplite. I mean triggers external to the game, provided by various software.
If you gain an edge by using something that wouldn't be available to you if you were in the other guy's seat... scripts, triggers, trainers, and other external software... then you're cheating. It's that simple.

I have to say RMers find it easier to play DM than DMers playing RM.

RM is just DM with resource gathering at the start. As soon as you bronze the DM style rush starts with CAs and Compies.

With DMers they need to learn to micromanage a few villies at the start and limited resources...

And please don't give me cr*p about RMs always Random Civ. That's like me saying all DMs on the Zone are Regular. They're not, just quite a few.
