A new trend seems to be happening on the zone now. Archer Wars. Right at this moment more Archer war rooms are open than DM.
I and afew friends have played about 6 or 7 and are yet to loose. Lol well just wondering if anyone else ever plays Archer Wars and what strats u use for it?
Me I use Yamato and play quite simply but getting every gold patch possible and only grabbing the berries.
I do admit I prefer DM over Archer Wars but if everyone else is playing it why not?????

Archer Wars seem to start when people did Ele Wars and Cat Wars and other specific unit wars. This lead to people making up villies wars or manhunt and then archer wars mainly because archers were the least used units in DM. I never play them though. I always use Minoan Compies but then this idiot started using cats because he was losing. Nver played them again.

I DM only occasionally and always poorly. But I have played a few RM's which were "no siege, no towers". Minoans rule. The amount of damage handed out by a truly large group of fully upgraded Minoan composite bowmen is almost scary to observe. They start shooting from so far away that the opponents are dropping like flies before they can even see who is attacking them. Park about 40 of these dudes on a hill overlooking your enemy's town and watch the buildings melt away. I assume that they have the same effect in Archer Wars DM.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!

In Iron Age starts Minoan compies already have 11 range and they can get alchemy and craftsmanship. Then if you think of the DM numbers of units you get, 70+ compies with 6 attack each, it is scary. They also cost only 20 gold each so you can make so many before gold runs out.

CAs are too weak and HHAs cost too much gold to even harm a decent Minoan compie rush. But then there is always a sour Hittite player who starts using siege when his HHAs lose to Yamma and Minoan.

archer wars are as popular as cho wars these days. And they are similar except cho war requires a little more strategy.
1. Pumping out archers are similar to that of legions.
2. Grabbing gold is similar to grabbing stone in cho

however in cho war u also focus on towers and controlling the map.

Choson Wars seem to appear only for the 'Known' or the '#1' players, and Archer Wars seem more spread out...Ya know?
Me personally, I could NEVER play in a Expert Choson War. Once, I found a rookie one, which was pretty cool, because I'm not very good at Choson War. Archer Wars have been around for a long time, but I enjoy Composite Wars.

Elephant Archers?

Basic ele archer (6 dam 600hp, 180f 80g) vs 4 compies (4x6 dam 4x45hp, 160f 80g). Ele archer wins with about 48 hps left, but 20 more food spent. Ele archer takes 2 frontage while 4 compies take 4, so the ele archers gain even more on the compies as the numbers increase. Also it takes 1/3rd more archery time to train 4 compies than 1 ele archer.

Basic ele archer (6 dam 600hp, 180f 80g) vs 2 heavy horse archers (2x9 dam 2x90hp 2 shielding, 80f 140g). Here the horse archers win, but with one horsie down and 8 hp left on the other. Again the ele archers will gain in frontage with 2 spaces vs 2x1.5, and while the total resources seem to favor the horse archers, the ele user is gaining in non-renewable gold.

2 basic ele archers (2x6 dam 2x600hp, 360f 160g) vs 3 helepolii (3x40 dam 3x45 hp, 300w 240g). Eles win, 1 ele left with 80 hp. Wins on total resource, wins on gold. Loses a bit on frontage, 4 for eles and 3 for heles.

Consider the compie and HHA bonuses...

Minoan - compies +2 range (10 to 12, aka an extra arrow)
Yammy - HAs -25% cost (aka 33% more HHAs)
Hittite - HAs +1 damage (9 to 10, 11% gain)

Now consider the ele bonuses...

Carth - EAs +25% hp ... this is raw lasting power, can help afford a few minor mistakes or offer an edge
Egypt - No ele bonus, but all archer upgrades. Could use CAs to raid and save gold?
Hittite - EAs +1 damage (6 tp 7, 16% gain) ... Could use CAs to raid and save gold?
Phoenie - -25% EA cost (180f 80g to 135f 60g) ... the yammy of the EA world? Again, can use CAs for raiding and to save gold.

I think EA lose out to HAs and CAs through hit-and-run attacks.

CenturionZ_1:
Hit-and-run? EAs have superior range (they get a secret extra bit of range from height, not shown in their stats).

Plus, with 600 hps, CAs will have to hit and run for a long long time.

I play good old Hittite, I dunno, but I love the Hittite race! I use ele archers, around 50+ backed up with HAs, by now my foods out, I build towers in base as I am doing the other stuff, then I start building lots of farms...then time to attack!

Oh forgot to mention, perhaps if I got enough gold, I back up with lots of siege, hittite have best seige, so you see, quite a formidable attack, and usually, ARCH Wars, people put off SIEGE or TOWERS cuz they think its cheating...

Sometimes I play with Towers, sometimes I don't, Siege is a no, because if you think your better than me, you try pumping out 203 Heavy Horse Archers in 8 mins! Siege is the easy way out of a Archer War, but most of the time I can handle siege.

u keep saying you can handle hittite seige easily. prove your point man. any hittite expert can defeat yamato easily in regular setting, and that's a FACT (so don't even try to deny it). A good yammy maybe able to get away from towers but not seige and tower combo.
